Black River Section 6
Probably one of the best river trips in th area. This 12.9 mile trip is a must for anyone who owns a kayak or canoe! About 1/2 way into the trip is a stand of cypress trees that have been dated to 1500 or more years old!
From Wilmington: Take 421N to 53W (Wards Corner)
Follow 53W for 6 miles to Atkinson - Turn right on Beatty's Bridge Road (N.
Rankin St.) There is a Scotchman Store on the corner.
Go 6 miles to the Black river bridge. This is the starting point.
Drive shuttle vehicles W on 53 to 210 (about 1/2 mile away). Go South to 53E. Take 53E about 5 miles to Kelly Rd. (just before crossing bridge) Go about a mile down Kelly Road to the Wildlife Access Road. Turn down the long dirt road until you get to the ramp. Leave your shuttle vehicles here.
